Cleveland Cavs Defeat Steph Curry's Golden State Warriors In NBA Championship Nailbiter; LeBron James Named MVP

Boom-shaka-laka.

The Golden State Warriors’ dream year has ended in defeat, with the Cleveland Cavaliers coming back to claim the NBA championship in Game 7 of the finals.

The Cavs triumphed 93-89, with MVP LeBron James scoring 27 points on his own.

James also pulled off what many thought to be a game-saving block in the closing moments of the fourth quarter.

The victory earned him his third championship ring; it's the first ever championship win for Cleveland. (It’s also Cleveland’s first championship win – in any sport – for 52 years. Rough trot.)

Though the Warriors can console themselves with the most wins in a regular NBA season (73), they nonetheless yielded the record of “biggest finals comeback” to the Cavs, who trailed the Warriors 3-1 at the start of the seven-game series.

In their deciding face-off, not even the Warriors’ reliable three-point machine Steph Curry (named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award for 2015/16) could bring down their hungry competition.

Here's LeBron denying Curry a two-pointer with ease.

Try to think of the good times, Steph.

Tickets to the hotly-awaited game neared $US50,000. If you didn’t have that much dosh lying around, you can just watch some of the highlights below. (The team’s part-owner Usher gets involved as well.)

The only thing left for LeBron to accomplish now? Nailing Space Jam 2.
