When you walk in to Akiba you are kindly greeted by the hospitable and kind staff who appropriately guide you to your table. We chose to sit inside and the ambience was great. The restaurant had a retro hipster vibe; definitely Tumblr-worthy. The staff periodically approached us asking if we needed anything, and upon request put together a custom drink from scratch! The food came at a convenient and reasonable time, and was plated enticingly. We ordered the popular kingfish dish ($14), alongside water chestnut dumplings ($10 for four pieces) and shanghai noodles ($12) between us. The kingfish was divine; its sweet, savoury and spicy flavours marrying in my mouth. The dumplings were great too, but nothing too exceptional. The shanghai noodles were a disappointment, unfortunately, as they were surprisingly too sweet and uniform in flavour. Overall it was a great meal. Next time, however, I shall try more of their raw menu selection.Food: 3/5
