Canada Has Built Their Own Baymax, Called 'MEDi'

Personal healthcare companion robots: not just for Japan anymore!

A Canadian hospital has purchased four “MEDi” robots to hang out with children in waiting rooms or during certain procedures. (MEDi stands for Medicine and Engineering Designing Intelligence.)

The friendly little cyborgs were created to ease kids’ concerns in the otherwise frightening hospital environment, comparing something scary like a blood test to having “a puppy licking your arm.”

Created by Alberta, Canada's RxRobots (who, we’re guessing, are huge fans of Big Hero 6), MEDis are programmed to speak several languages and have facial recognition technology.

The question is, when will start seeing them in Australia?

Oh, and the second question is, when will they go to war with the Japanese Ro-Bears, and will the victor allow us humans to continue living alongside them in harmony?

Until then: cute!
