"Bloom" Actors Phoebe Tonkin and Ryan Corr Tell Us They Wished They Took School More Seriously

We spoke to Phoebe and Ryan ahead of the premiere of Stan's original series, Bloom.

There's a new Australian drama on the horizon and it features your fave Aussie actors, Phoebe Tonkin (The Vampire Diaries, H2O: Just Add Water) and Ryan Corr (Holding the Man, Packed to the Rafters).

It's called Bloom and it's set in a town situated in rural Australia where a mysterious flower has given some of the townsfolk a chance at being young again.

"The themes are universal and they're relatable to younger and older viewers," Phoebe tells Student Edge.

"The themes of regret—it doesn't matter how old you are.

"I think everyone understands what that feels like and maybe has things in their life they wish they'd done differently."

We asked what Phoebe and Ryan would do if they were suddenly high school age again, and the question turned out to be a little more controversial than we thought.

"I'd probably tell myself to take it all a little less seriously," Ryan started.

"—Oh my god, I'm the opposite," Phoebe interjected. "I wanna 'Take it seriously.'"

"The school part?" Ryan questioned.

"Yes. I would lock myself in my bedroom with a thousand books and just study," Phoebe continued.

Bloom premieres on Stan on 1 January 2019.
