Bow Down: Beyoncé Delivers Historic Coachella Performance and Re-Births Destiny's Child

Her Coachella performance reminds us that we are living in the era of Beyoncé.

Bey headlined Coachella (or did Coachella artists play for Bey's concert?) and it made heads metaphorically pop all over the world.

Being no stranger to putting on ridiculously high-quality performances, the 36-year-old queen of music opened with true flair. The huge main stage revealed an enormous marching band as a nod to her heritage, being the first black woman to headline the festival.

The marching band dressed and performed in the style of HBCU (historically black colleges and universities), known for their animated performances.

And if that wasn't enough to make you faint, she also brought out the other two members of Destiny's Child, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams (who?), to perform renditions of "Say My Name", "Soldier" and "Lose My Breath".

Bey told the audience that this show had been in the making for some time.

"I was supposed to perform at Coachella before but I ended up getting pregnant," she explained.

"So I had time to dream and dream and dream with two beautiful souls in my belly, and I dreamed up this performance."

And dream up a performance she did.

Beyoncé's colors are black and yellow because of the bee motif and because she's QUEEN BEY. ALSO black and gold are the colors for the Alphas —the first black fraternity—because she's the first black woman to headline Coachella.
