Our Fave April Fool's Day Pranks From Big-Brand Jokesters

Our Fave April Fool's Day Pranks From Big-Brand Jokesters

Gotcha.

The most iconic day of the year is upon us again – April Fool’s.

We all love a good prank, and it seems so too do our fave companies, with no shortage of jokes around this time every year.

To celebrate all the tricksters among us, we took a look at some of the best April Fool's jokes from the brands we all know, love and sometimes just can't trust. Which ones did you fall for?

Krispy Kreme

Kicking this list off with one of this year's best fake-pranks? It walks like an April Fool's joke, talks like an April Fool's joke but turns out, it's actually legit. And we're excited.

McDonalds

Another goldie fresh on our feeds this morning is Maccas' Sweet ‘N Sour Sundae.

A "treat your taste buds never knew they needed" for all the chip-dippers out there? We don't think so...

Chatime

No one is really sure how they feel about this, but Chatime introduced us to their new hot tea mix-in of two-minute Maggi noodles for April Fool's.

With the price of noodles currently skyrocketing, this could've seen bubble tea get a lot more 'spenny.

Subway

Last year, which was a bit of joke in and of itself, Subway announced the launch of their coriander cookie.

They called it the "king of all cookies" and just, no. Yuck.

Boost Juice

Boost Juice terrified us all when they announced they were taking the elite Mango Magic off the menu in 2021. They said it had to go to make room for three new vegan drinks and people were enraged.

Like, a surprising amount of people didn't realise the date and went off in the 14k+ comments before Boost was made to acknowledge it was a joke, and reassure people their beloved mango smoothie was here to stay.

Vegemite

Vegemite announced a questionable collab with Dare Iced Coffee – yep, a Vegemite flavoured, limited edition Dare Iced Coffee.

They probably could've fooled a fair few with this one, seeing as we've had Vegemite chocolate, chips and heaps more, but they literally gave away that it was a prank in the caption of their post.

IKEA

Moving away from food and drinks, IKEA launched their new HUND COUTURE on April Fool's last year – a range of "haute couture for dogs".

They described it as "sleek, sophisticated Swedish design" but it was just sticking IKEA bags on dogs in ridiculous ways.

yd. Australia

This was just next level terrible, but a lot of people loved this High-Vis suit idea from yd.

"Go from the worksite to work drinks in an outfit that you're sure to stand out in," the company posted to Facebook.

Madame Tussauds

Karen called and asked to speak to the manager at Madame Tussauds and they delivered with an iconic Karen wax figure addition, complete with oversized sunnies and that assymetrical bob.

It would've been epic to see Karen come to life at the Sydney wax museum but it was, of course, just a prank. What wasn't a joke though, was free entry for anyone named Karen for a few days.

WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo

Staying in Sydney and the WILD LIFE Zoo announced a bin chicken exhibition in what is one of our favourite April Fool's pranks.

These guys went to A LOT of effort, filming a professional video and saying they were even hiring a "Senior Bin Chicken Keeper".

Smiling Mind

Rounding out our list and going back to pranks for our furry friends, meditation app, Smiling Mind, fake-launched a three-minute mindfulness practice for dogs.

"Doggy Body Scan" aimed to help dogs who may feel stress or anxiety think pawsitively.
