Back to School With Rachel Perkins

Our sixth season wraps up with a great Aussie director.
This post is presented in partnership with Bankwest.
Our webseries Back to School With invites Australia's most interesting and successful people to share stories from their school days. In each ep, they let us know how they landed their dream careers, as well as how they faced all those inevitable obstacles of teenagerdom along the way.
Over five seasons, we've interviewed Jimmy Barnes, Julie Bishop, Samantha Jade, Dr. Karl, Daniel Ricciardo, Ita Buttrose, Tom Ballard, Layne Beachley, John Marsden and many, many other fascinating peeps.
But a new year brings a new season... and even more incredible Aussie stories.
In the eighth and final episode of Season Six, we chat with filmmaker Rachel Perkins (Jasper Jones, Bran Nue Dae). Rachel told us about the "hard work" she had to put in before becoming one of Australia's most respected filmmakers, as well as her teenage regrets and the advice she got from her legendary activist father Charles Perkins.
"My father said to me, 'Look, you know, you get an opportunity, that's fine. But it's what you make of that opportunity. It's what you do with it.'"
Check out our chat.
That's a wrap on Season Six! But stay tuned for Season Seven, coming sometime soon...
