Back to School With Libby Trickett

Swim good? She sure can. We chat to four-time gold medallist Libby Trickett.
This post is presented in partnership with Bankwest.
Our webseries Back to School With invites Australia's most interesting and successful people to share stories from their school days. In each ep, they let us know how they landed their dream careers, as well as how they faced all those inevitable obstacles of teenagerdom along the way.
Over five seasons, we've interviewed Jimmy Barnes, Julie Bishop, Samantha Jade, Dr. Karl, Daniel Ricciardo, Ita Buttrose, Tom Ballard, Layne Beachley, John Marsden and many, many other fascinating peeps.
But a new year brings a new season... and even more incredible Aussie stories.
In the second episode of Season Six, we chat with Libby Trickett, the record-breaking Aussie Olympian and four-time gold medallist. Libby told us what it's like to triumph as a teenager, retire from a sport you love twice (!), tackle depression and then re-educate yourself for an entirely different industry... before turning 30.
"[After retiring] I definitely fell into a depressed period for my life, probably for a good nine or 10 months... Second time around, I knew what to look for, I knew what to expect. I recognised the triggers that can be quite stressful for me, to lead me into any mental health issues that I might experience.
Check out our chat.
Stay tuned: We'll be dropping new episodes each Tuesday. Join us as we venture back in time with another Aussie legend every week!
In the meantime, catch up with previous seasons:
