Back To School With Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki

A sit down with the good doctor.
This post is presented in partnership with Bankwest.
In 2015, we interviewed Anthony Albanese, Michael Caton, Marie Bashir, Tom Ballard and too many other fascinating peeps to mention. Tough to top, right?
Well, in Season 3 of Back to School With, we're kicking it up a notch.
Our webseries Back to School With invites Australia's most interesting and successful people to share stories from their school days. In each episode, they let us know how they landed their dream careers, as well as how they faced all those inevitable obstacles of teenagerdom along the way.
In the fifth episode of Season 3, we speak with Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki, the self-proclaimed "sleek geek" and beloved ABC broadcaster/ colourful shirt-collector. During our interview, he told us what it's like to spend a lifetime seeking the knowledge of the universe (assisted by "28 years of education"). He also revealed how he was beset by bullies as a child and had no interest in study as a teenager, leading to a decade of "floating like a paddle pop stick in the gutter of life on a rainy day."
Lastly, Dr. Karl shares his thoughts on local schools: "I think the education system in Australia does the high school students badly." His preference? The Finnish system, with zero homework. (Yes, it's a thing.) Check out our chat! The following clip contains mild sexual references and drug references.
We'll meet you back here next week for the sixth episode of BTSW Season 3!
