Australia's Been Confirmed For Eurovision 2017 (Congrats; But Also, Why Are We Even Invited?)

Australia will be making a third appearance in the Eurovision song contest next year.

We will be joining the ranks of 43 other countries, which actually equals the record high last seen in the 2011 competition.

SBS managing director Michael Ebeid said in a statement: "Dami Im's magnificent Grand Final performance in Stockholm earlier this year secured Australia the runner up position on the world's largest stage."

Adding that her showstopping act was "a testament not only to her amazing singing prowess but the humbling way the European community has embraced our entry into the competition."

Not gonna lie; still kind of confused as to why Australia keeps getting invited to a European song contest?

We aren't special snowflakes though; Last year, Israel was invited to join Eurovision as well.

Oh well, as they say: "Don't bite the hand that feeds you."

Eurovision is now in its 62nd year, and will take place in Kyiv, Ukraine's capital city.

The semi-finals will be held on Tuesday May 9 and Thursday May 11, with the grand final on Saturday May 13. Save it in your calendars, people!

If you're wondering who has been chosen to represent Australia this year, sorry but you'll have to hold your horses.

No announcements made just yet.

One can only wish, right?
