Childhood’s End: Australians Are Barely Buying Cordial Anymore
Remember cordial? New data suggests maybe you don’t!
According to Nielsen Homescan (reported by News Ltd.), cordial sales have cratered over the past few years, with just 53.7 per cent of households still buying the sugar water (as of October 2015).
In 2014, that figure sat at 56.1 per cent. In 2013, it was 58.7 per cent.
Though the cordial industry is still worth about $164 million, the majority of "lost shoppers" are under the age of 35, suggesting that young people and young families are avoiding sugar-sweetened drinks. Hence, the future of cordial looks bleak.
Researchers add that the marketplace is instead focusing more on ready-to-drink tea and bottled water.
Still, for many generations of Australians, drinking a cool glass of green syrup (diluted by a bit of water) is basically the very definition of summer.
Vale cordial. You were too beautiful – and, real talk, too unhealthy – for this world.

oh oh.
I do and I still love it, even my little brothers an sisters are still drinking it.
