An Australian Woman Has Been Imprisoned In Abu Dhabi For A Facebook Post

A Western Australian woman has been jailed in Abu Dhabi for “writing bad words on social media,” ABC News reports.
Jodi Magi, 39, contacted the ABC from the back of a police car as she was escorted to a jail cell, and relayed the details of her inexplicable imprisonment.
"No-one is talking to me. No-one is telling me what is going on. I've been driving around for literally about four hours."
Magi has been living in Abu Dhabi since 2012, where she’s been teaching graphic design to Emirati women.
In February of this year, she posted to Facebook a picture of a driver who’d parked across two disabled parking spaces.
The social media post led to a police complaint (despite there not being any identifying details in the pic) and Magi was subsequently fined approximately $3,600. She was also to be deported because of her crime.
However, after attempting to pay the fine yesterday, she was arrested and taken to jail.
She had previously attempted to voluntarily deport herself last week, but authorities would not allow her to unless she faced court again.
She told the ABC that she spent the last night in jail and the Australian embassy in Abu Dhabi has not provided any assistance, besides the advice that she get a lawyer.
"I'm putting my life in the hands of chaos," she added. "I'm terrified."
More news as it develops.
