This Aussie Legend Just Broke the World Record for the Longest Plank Ever

Nine Hours and 30 minutes of pain.
We don’t know if this is inspiring or painful but Aussie man Daniel Scali just smashed the world record for the longest plank ever held (the exercise, not the dumb planking fad from 2011).
Scali managed to hold the position for nine hours and 30 minutes, destroying the previous record set by former marine George Hood in February last year, who held the position for eight hours and 15 minutes.
I don’t know about you, but I can barely plank for one minute let alone hours, so both these fellas have more than just my respect.
What makes Scali’s record that much more impressive is that he suffers from CRPS (complex regional pain syndrome) which causes his arm to be in constant pain at even the smallest bit of pressure.
The condition—which he developed after an accident at 12-years-old—means that his brain sends incorrect messages to his affected arm.
To take the pain away, Scalie wears a compression sleeve, but he admitted that it did nothing to prevent pain in his arm for his record-breaking plank.
What a freakin’ machine.

“Obviously putting constant pressure on my elbow and forearm, up to my shoulder did give me quite a bit of grief at the start,” Scali said to the Guinness World Records.
“It was a full, head-to-toe experience of constant pain. My feet were numb. My knees were burning. My thighs were burning. My left arm felt like it was on fire. But it was all worth it in the end.”
This guy sounds as mad as a cut snake.
If you’re wondering how you get yourself ready to do almost 10 hours of planking, it takes months of prep which included Scali doing ungodly amounts of push-ups and sit-ups.
If you're wondering what on earth possessed Scali to attempt this record, it was all about raising awareness for his condition.
“I’ve achieved my goal, I’ve achieved my main objective of bringing awareness to CRPS,” Scali said.
“I wanted to prove to people that no matter what the circumstances you go through, no matter what pain barriers you have—if you put your mind to it and you believe you can do it, you can achieve it.”
Preach brother!
This has defs inspired me to at least try to do a one minute plank per day.
