At This Time of Day, In This Part of the Country, You Can Read Lost Dialogue from "The Simpsons'" Steamed Hams Scene

"May I see it?" Yes!

It’s hard to say when or why, exactly, The Simpsons’ "Steamed Hams" exchange became an internet darling.

But we do know the meme reached its peak when Jeff Goldblum recited Principal Skinner’s dialogue for a viral video. Consider it a collision of online obsessions.

Well, it turns out Simpsons writer Josh Weinstein has been holding out on us all this time, privy to a lost line of dialogue—delivered by Superintendent Chalmers—from the episode "22 Short Films About Springfield".

If, for some ungodly reason, you’ve never seen the original, here it is in all its glory.

Weinstein uploaded the script pages, including the previously unheard line (which was probably cut for, basically, not being all that funny), on the 22nd anniversary of the iconic episode’s airing.

It turns out that, in the unaired iteration of the script, Chalmers planned on informing a Union of Amateur Astronomers about both Skinner’s "Steamed hams" and the "Aurora Borealis" localised entirely within his kitchen.

So, it's "steamed Hams but slightly overlong now and with a muted ending."

And that should be just enough to keep the meme alive for another week or so.
