How Do I Make the Most Out of Year 12?

How Do I Make the Most Out of Year 12?

OK, so how do we make Year 12 the best year ever?

Year 12 is often seen as our final year to really do what we want in school before we embark on the 'rest of our lives'.

We've seen all the films which are about exactly this: High School Musical 3, Lady Bird, Booksmart, the list goes on.

And there can be a kind of pressure to make the most of this year.

But how can you juggle studying and celebrating your final year of high school with your mates? This week, Emma and Kalen look back on Year 12 and discuss whether they did (or didn't!) feel like they made the most of it, and how to find that balance that's right for you!

Emma: I think if you're going into Year 12 and you're wondering 'how do I make the most of it?' you've got to think of it as 'what do I want to get out of this year?'

Emma: If you want to get out of the year a really high ATAR, then you know what you need to do to get a really high ATAR right? But it might mean that you have to sacrifice other things, maybe you can't say yes to every social gathering that your friends are having.

Emma: Or on the other hand, if you're like I want to make the most memories that I can then you know your grades might suffer. I think there should be an in between.

Kalen: Work it out what is it most you really value right now and what do you want to do, and adjust accordingly.

Kalen: The thing is, you don't get your high school years back. Once you finish high school, you finish high school.

Kalen: You don't want to be someone who looks back on their teenage years and think, 'I wish'.
