Are Some Dead Avengers Coming Back to Life for "Spider-Man: Far From Home"?

Look, there’s gonna be a lot of Avengers: Infinity War spoilers ahead, so be warned.

Unless you’re Leslie Jones, we’re going to assume you saw Avengers: Infinity War in cinemas, and thus, have had several months to grieve the dozens of characters dusted by Thanos’ finger-snap.

Well, I have emotionally confusing news for you.

Vulture has revealed two characters who perished—or whatever you want to call it—in the after credits sequence of Infinity War will likely be resurrected for the upcoming Spider-Man sequel, Far From Home.

They would be… last chance to get out… Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders, better known in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Nick Fury and Maria Hill.

Though Far From Home arrives in cinemas 5 July 2019—a couple of months after the next Avengers movie—Marvel head Kevin Feige has not yet confirmed when the movie takes place: before or after.

If it takes place before, the final fate of Fury, Hill and indeed Tom Holland’s Peter Parker (who also disintegrated) remains up in the air. (Though, we’re pretty sure Petey’s gonna make it.)

If it takes place after: well, we guess Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and his remaining pals saved the day.

Of course, if Far From Home took place prior to the events of Infinity War, it wouldn’t be the first entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play as a prequel. Last month’s Ant-Man and the Wasp was also set prior to Thanos’ genocidal attack. And early next year we’ll see the 1990s set Captain Marvel, also co-starring Samuel L. Jackson. Expect Captain Marvel—played by Brie Larson—to figure in the next Avengers too, given Fury called for her help at the end of Infinity War.
