Apple's Spinning Wheel Of Death Has A Fresh, Flat New Look For The Summer

The Spinning Wheel of Death is dead. Long live the Spinning Wheel of Death!

For the new Mac update, El Capitan, Apple has updated their “loading” wheel, commonly referred to as the Spinning Wheel of Death because gah! Why won’t it stop spinning?! I can’t click on anything else!

Though the change is a subtle one, it’s undeniably flatter (as Quartz initially noticed).

OS X El Capitan has few changes overall, which is probably why the rebooting of its much-despised pinwheel has garnered so much attention.

The question remains: will the updates to the Mac’s OS mean we see less and less of ol’ spinny?

Or, will that prophesised Apple malware hack – which El Capitan should be able to destroy – prove too powerful to stop?
