Ape Escape: Orangutan Makes A Break For It At Melbourne Zoo

Sorry San Francisco. The true birthplace of the ape rebellion is apparently right here in Australia.

Melbourne Zoo was briefly put into lockdown after an orangutan escaped its enclosure this afternoon.

According to The Guardian, the escapee was Malu, an 11-year-old orangutan described on the Zoos Victoria website as "adventurous." No kidding.

Malu scampered into Melbourne Zoo's public area before being cornered by zookeepers. He was tranquilised and returned to his home.

During this time, zoo visitors - likely having freshly seen Jurassic World and not wanting to wait around to be picked off by any other animals that might make a break for it - were evacuated to safe areas.

Meanwhile, Caesar waits for his time to strike.
