Amazon Will Let Aussie Shoppers Buy From the US Store Again

Just in time for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Your long national nightmare is over.

Amazon, which officially opened an Australian store last December, has reversed its decision to block Aussies from receiving U.S. shipments.

Earlier this year, Amazon said it wouldn’t allow Australian shoppers to buy from its American website, in response to the Federal Government’s introduction of GST on foreign online goods.

However, as reported by the ABC, Amazon has responded to customer, ahem, feedback (AKA complaints) by saying, "Amazon customers will be able to ship eligible items from amazon.com to Australian delivery addresses" from 22 November. (Hey, that's today!)

"Our teams have continued to focus their efforts on building the complex infrastructure needed to enable exports of low value goods to Australia and remain compliant with GST laws."

This, of course, means that anything purchased from amazon.com will also come with GST.

Still, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales on the horizon, most buyers probably won’t mind.
