After Connie’s Death, Samuel Johnson Tells "The Project" He's Working to "Vanquish" Cancer

Order of Australia recipient and breast cancer advocate Connie Johnson passed away at the age of 40 earlier this month, but not before raising $5.6 million to fight cancer.

Last night on The Project, her brother Samuel made it clear he won’t slow down his efforts to continue Connie’s battle. In fact, he promised to "accelerate the push for a cure".

Dubbing himself Head of Cancer Vanquishment, he launched a new fundraising effort to sell socks through loveyoursister.ecwid.com.

However, he also made a point to say he was going to step up his efforts by going the political route and campaigning in Canberra, as Connie had done previously (and as he’d avoided in the past).

"I’m sick of tapping families that can’t afford it," he said.

"Everyone on the ground level is doing enough. So, I’m out for the rest now. And I’m not gonna stop, mate. I’ll employ nearly any tactic. I’ve just realised that I’ve gone pretty soft so far."

Note that Johnson—besides being a Gold Logie-winning actor—has devoted much of his time to this cause, including a year-long unicycle tour of the country.

Johnson also said his goal is nothing short of a total cure for cancer.

"I’ve realised this is just the beginning, mate," he said.

"She was training her little brother up to do her work when she was gone."
