A Uni Student’s Mum Just Recommended Her for a Job as Editor at the Washington Post on Twitter

Shelby’s mum is all of our mums.

The most honest and truthful moment in the history of the internet happened today, FYI.

Dino Grandoni, a reporter at the Washington Post, jumped on Twitter to post a job ad for ‘Environment Editor’ at his esteemed institution (subject of a recent Best Picture-nominated Steven Spielberg movie).

While the reputation of The Post may have intimidated some job applicants, it didn’t slow down Mum of the Year Darlene Campbell, who swiftly recommended her daughter, Shelby, despite the fact Shelby is still a freshman in college (aka: in her first year at university).

It led to the kind of beautiful interaction that makes you wonder how Twitter can still possibly be free.

Though Shelby (who, funnily enough, writes for a student paper in Ohio also called The Post) expressed her shame, Darlene continued to insist that her daughter was the right woman for the job.

Shelby’s current editors agreed.

Embarrassing mum-business aside, Shelby might actually end up with an internship out of all this.

So, remember, next time your mum tries to talk you up in a professional context, let her.

Yes, that includes you, Shelby.
