A UK Blogger Live-Streamed Her Entire Birthing Process To Over 200,000 Strangers On The Internet

Sarah-Jane Ljungstrom, a video blogger mum, decided to broadcast her labour on Facebook Live to show people the realities behind giving birth.

Just moments after her waters broke, Ms Llungstrom switched on the camera and began streaming on Facebook Live, the Sun reports.

Her labour lasted around 24 hours, during which a total of five videos were posted including live contractions and updates as her baby “moved down the birth canal”.

More than 200,000 viewers tuned in to watch the process; but they didn’t see her daughter actually being pushed out.

“I’ve been vlogging about motherhood and my pregnancy this year so it was natural for me to do the same and share my labour,” Ms Llungstrom explained.

“I was always looking for help and advice especially about the big things like labour… so I decided to share my own, to show a real everyday labour that other mums and pregnant woman could follow and see how it went.”

She wanted to show how birth isn’t really like how the movies make it out to be.

Speaking in a YouTube video after the birthing, she said there were no regrets about documenting the whole journey with the Internet. She describes it as a positive experience that she’d do again in a heartbeat.

“Emotionally it made me feel braver and more hopeful as I had the encouragement of women I knew had been there and done it,” Ms Llungstrom shared. “I got some great advice and read all of it.”
