A New Nintendo Switch With a Bigger Screen Is in the Works

Bigger, better, faster, stronger.

Last week marked the fourth anniversary of the Nintendo Switch, and what better way for Nintendo to celebrate than with the announcement of an all-new Switch with a bigger screen available this year?

The announcement, courtesy of Bloomberg, details how the new Switch will feature a 7-inch OLED screen capable of 4k graphics when hooked up to your TV. This is huge step up from the 6.2-inch 720p LCD panel of the previous Switch, and the 5.5-inch display on the Switch Lite.

Better still, the OLED screen means the Switch’s battery life will increase with faster response time and higher contrast.

Yeah, we know we've been throwing around some boring technical words, so here’s what you need to know: it's gonna be bigger in size, use less battery, and have better graphics.

Does anyone else hear the chorus to Kanye West’s “Stronger” or is that just me?

Unfortunately, there is no release date as of yet, but there is confirmation from Bloomberg that mass production of the displays will start in June with the hope of releasing the updated Switch for the Christmas holiday season.

It has already been a year full of good news for Switch gamers, with the newly announced Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 due early 2022.

We’re only in March Nintendo, slow down!

Honestly though, this move makes complete sense. With the recent roll-out of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, Nintendo had to respond, and this bigger, more powerful Switch is just what was needed to take the fight to Sony and Microsoft.
