A Melbourne School Student Has Been Killed in an Iraq Bombing

A Melbourne school girl has been killed in an Iraqi ice-cream parlour bombing while on a trip to visit her sick grandmother.
Twelve-year-old Zynab Al Harbiya's life has been tragically cut short after two car bombs were detonated right outside the parlour in Baghdad.
Zynab attended Sirius College in Broadmeadows just outside of Melbourne and was described as "a loving and fun 12-year-old."
According to reports, she had been fasting for Ramadan and wanted her family to take her to get ice-cream. A family friend told the ABC that she was at the parlour with with her mother and uncles. Her uncles were also injured in the blast.
Zynab's cousin told the ABC that before she left, Zynab said that she was scared.
"She told my son before she left, she said, 'I am scared of the bombs', and we said, 'It is OK'."
"How can a beautiful, bright, intelligent, optimistic, full-of-dreams, perfect girl go on a trip and not return back home?" Zynab's cousin said.
Foreign Minister Julie Bishop expressed her condolences to the family and explained that while consular resources were limited, they are providing as much as they can.
"I extend our deepest sympathies to her family, her loved ones, her fellow students in Broadmeadows," Bishop said.
At this stage, the blasts are said to have killed 17 people.
