A Hen Is Now Running Chicken Treat’s Twitter Account

Perth-based fowl provider Chicken Treat has devised a ploy to steal attention from its bigger-name competitors: by handing over its social media duties to an honest-to-goodness chicken.

Betty, as she’s been christened, has been pecking away on a keyboard at “Chicken Tweet HQ” for a week, in an effort to become the first ever chicken to tweet a proper five-letter word in English. (Yes, this is something being measured by the Guinness World Record folk, who are seriously running out of records to print.)

Since being handed the reigns to @ChickenTreat, Betty’s managed a few three letter words (“See” and “Poo”) as well as the four-letter “Look”, but so far, no five-letter masterpiece.

(It’s also worth noting that she’s written “zscxe 2qdw7khj8p xd.////////// mjbdcvtyu” and “AZAVZUYTZZIIZA”, so don’t start thinking she’s mastered our language quite yet.)

A nation watches on, rapt, as a chicken unwittingly Tweets for glory. Here’s hoping she takes a while to reach her five-letter goal. Right now, it’s the only thing keeping her from winding up on a plate.
