A Cheeto That Looks Like Harambe Sold for $AU130,000

When you love memes and Cheetos and have a lot of money to spend, why not?

Someone out there put a $AU130,000 bid on a Flamin’ Hot Cheeto that—apparently—looks like Harambe. As in, the Cincinnati Zoo gorilla that was shot and killed when a small boy fell into his enclosure. Also—y’know—the viral meme/internet sensation.

The prized Cheeto was put up for auction on eBay under the headline: “Gorilla Hot Cheetos – RARE – One of a Kind Cheetos – Harambe Gorilla”.

"I opened up a bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos and as soon as I looked inside I came across this unique Cheetos that looks like Harambe the gorilla,” the description read. “This item is one of a kind! It measures up to about 1 1/2 inches in length. This item up for bid is only for this unique Cheetos, bag not included. This makes a great collectible for anyone who appreciates rare items!"

Love how the item condition is listed as “New” like, you’d sure hope you’re buying a new edible item. Legit, would anyone buy a second-hand chip on eBay?

A regular bag of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos would set you back about $AU3.30. Can you believe it? For the price of one #rare meme chip, the person could have bought 39,394 bags of flaming hot deliciousness.

Anyway, the lucrative eBay item has (unsurprisingly) inspired a bunch of copycats. Some have sold for ridiculously high prices too, like this one.

Others—clearly lacking the same mystical appeal—are going for a couple bucks. The price you'd expect for a mangled looking chip.

Seriously though, will anyone else be carefully inspecting their food from now on for potential meme-shaped treasures?

If a god damn cheeto that "looks" like harambe can sell for $100,000, bet I start inspecting my food like Sherlock Holmes before I eat it.
