2016 Was The Worst: Here’s How To Face 2017

2016 Was The Worst: Here’s How To Face 2017

If you’re reading this, congrats! You’ve (almost) made it through one of the most rattling periods in human history: 2016.

As we draw closer to the conclusion of a somewhat wild, non-fictional story, it’s time to recollect the events that have so far slipped past us and finally meditate on the bounty of offerings that 2017 will (hopefully) give.

People are leaving 2016 noting that it was a particularly disastrous year. Global warming; terror attacks; shootings and other killings; Syria; Zika; Trump; clowns; the losses of Prince, David Bowie and a range of beloved TV show characters. These were among the significant calendar moments that classified 2016 as one of the plenty “bad years” in our history.

To be completely honest, there’s nothing new about political upheaval, violence among communities, world diseases and weird happenings here and there.

The simplest way to welcome the presence of a new year is to approach it with an open mind, and most importantly, with peace and love.

2016 was already a difficult time on its own, and for many people from different parts of the world, their burdens continue and they will have no other option but to keep fighting to make things right.

Be grateful for getting through this year because there will always be people who have it worse than you. At the same time, stay mindful of injustices and support causes you’re passionate about, even if it’s only using your voice to spread awareness.

The upcoming New Year also means we get to indulge in retrospection and re-evaluate our life choices. New Year’s resolutions are the perfect opportunity to start over in promises that you’ve failed to keep.

Whatever lifestyle change you want to make, hold on to them by writing them down and reminding yourself every so often. Doing this will fuel your drive to be successful in achieving your goals, and could even influence others around you in a positive way.

Overall, don’t dread the year that’s coming. It’s not the apocalypse (yet), so freaking out probably means you’re being a bit dramatic. If you got through the rollercoaster ride of 2016, you’ll surely be ready and prepared for the times ahead of you. Keep your head up and bring on 2017.
