We're looking for enthusiastic young writers with strong opinions, a flair for the written word and a talent for taking on challenges to contribute to Student Edge.
If you’re interested in a career in journalism (print, broadcast or online), communications, media relations or film & television, get some experience with Student Edge. If you've got a knack for photojournalism or videojournalism, we want you too!
For three months, you’ll contribute weekly articles or assist in the production of in-house videos. (There is a possibility you could be asked to contribute for a further three months.)
Under the instruction of an Editor, you’ll be invited to pitch articles, be given feedback on your work and offered periodic one-on-one mentoring sessions (in person, over the phone or via Skype).
Check out some of the great work produced by our 2017 contributors so far.
Contributing to Student Edge is the perfect move for those looking to build up their folio or add to their reel.
You must be 16 or older to apply. Applicants from all over Australia are welcome. You will need to be available to write between July and September of 2017 to be considered.
To make your case, simply write a 300-word opinion piece, on any subject you like, or a review, in the style of our writing challenge responses. If you'd like to send in some photos or video footage displaying your journalistic talents instead (or would simply rather submit your entry via email) drop a line to editor@studentedge.com.au.
We’re now accepting submissions for a July 2017 start!
