Hey budding writers and social commentators everywhere.
Welcome to the Student Edge writing challenge, where you’re invited to write on a topic nominated by us.
You have one week to submit your entry and the winning story will be published on Student Edge and win you a $50 gift card from Westfield.
Keep it smart, keep it clean and most of all, keep it under three minutes reading time.
Here's a TIP: One line answers don't tend to make for an entertaining article (this isn't one of those 25 words or less competitions) so put your thinking caps on and write something you think others will find interesting.
Check out our guide to winning the writing challenge for some dos and don'ts.
Your latest writing challenge is:
Is Barbie A Good Role Model For Young Girls?
Check out the video below. Is the Barbie brand inspirational for young girls, or does it still set a bad example with its gender stereotypes?
Deadline: 8/11/2015 11:59:00 PM EST

I think that barbie looks wise, isn't a positive role model on young girls. I think that it makes people think they need to be skinny to be as pretty as barbie, and I don't think is the case. I think that everyone should be happy in their body and their confidence go because of a plastic doll.
In saying that, however, I believe that barbie helps young girls to imagine and dream, as far as the universe. I played with barbies until I was around 10, and I loved thinking up all the adventures barbie could go on.
Overall, I think that there are both positive and negative arguments, but I believe that if the barbies have real proportion sizes and different skin types, then parents will be more likely to buy them for their children, and the girls won't get bad thoughts on how their body should look.
