YouTuber Brooke Houts Denies She Is a Dog Abuser, Despite Horrifying Leaked Footage

The YouTube creator has apologised on Twitter, but people aren't having it.

Earlier this week, YouTube star Brooke Houts uploaded a video to her channel featuring her Doberman named Sphinx. What initially started out as an attempt to prank her dog took a disturbing turn, when the (apparently accidentally-published) uncut footage saw her hit, hold down and spit on the pup.

The original video was deleted and an edited version without the abuse was uploaded, but given her 330,000+ subscribers, it was no surprise that a clip from the earlier footage was uploaded to Twitter, where it went viral. People are understandably appalled.

Brooke posted a lengthy note on Twitter, saying, "On the day in particular that the video was filmed, and actually this past week, things in my outside life have been less than exceptional."

The behavior is hardly excusable, but the YouTuber has defended herself, holding that she is not a dog abuser.

"REGARDLESS of what my dog does, I should not have acted that way towards him. I want to clarify that I a NOT a dog abuser or animal abuser in any way, shape, or form."

She also denied spitting on Sphinx, saying, "I also did NOT spit on my dog, but I understand how it could look like I did."

Despite posting the apology, the Los Angeles Department’s Animal Cruelty unit is reportedly investigating the alleged animal abuse.

The edited version of the video has since been deleted. At this stage, Brooke’s YouTube channel has not been removed, but we will keep an eye out for updates.
