Student Edge Members Share Their Entertainment Preferences
We all love a good movie. And who doesn't enjoy some serious beats?
We like to keep our finger on the pulse at Student Edge, which is why we're always running quick, fun polls.
Two recent polls asked for our members' favourite genres in music and movies. Can you guess what came out on top?
Music Genres
No real surprise in the top spot here. (To be honest it is a pretty broad genre.) However, hip-hop, rap and alternative were slightly preferred over the likes of rock. A generational shift from parents' terrible tastes, perhaps?
Also not surprising: That more niche genres like metal and classical music fared pretty poorly.
Movie Genres
You apparently can't beat a good comedy if you're a Student Edge member.
You could say the most surprising thing about this poll is how low horror and romance ranked, given the deluge of movies released in these genres. That said, even they tracked better than the more 'out there' genres of world cinema and musicals.
Our members also don't seem to really rate documentaries highly either. Maybe they think they're too much like homework?
Despite evolving technologies, shifting perspectives in politics and social media, has that much really changed for this new generation? After all, we still love movies; we still love music. They continue to bring us together to experience the world in new and exciting ways.
And with a whole new generation brimming with creativity and innovation, who knows what the next big trend in movies and music will be?
