You Can Order Free UberUMPIRES For Your Backyard Cricket Matches This Australia Day

Australia Day’s around the corner, and with it, countless backyard cricket matches and captain’s calls.

To ensure no one has to sit out the match and play ump – or, take the blame for a bad decision and accidentally incite a riot – Uber and Optus are sending umps across the nation to rein in your game.

As famed umpire Billy Bowden explains in the below video, Aussies can request an UberUMPIRE via the Uber app between the hours of 11am and 3pm on January 26.

All you need is to select UberUMPIRE view on the app and request, you guessed it, an UberUMPIRE.

It’s unlikely one will be over immediately, given the probable demand, but if it’s any consolation, the service is entirely free, so stop your whinging and be more ‘strayan.

Pray for those umpires.
