Will.I.Am Hears Your Fergie-Related Grand Final Complaints, Calls for Peas (Sorry, Peace)

Where is the love?

It was a big weekend for sports fans over the weekend. The West Coast Eagles triumped over Collingwood to claim their fourth AFL Premiership in a five-point nailbiter; the Sydney Roosters denied the Melbourne Storm a second consecutive championship in the NRL Grand Final; and in the first ever NRL Women's Grand Final, the Brisbane Broncos defied Sydney's other Roosters, 34 to 12.

But for those who watch these massive events for the usually embarrassing pre-game and half-time shows, only one story mattered: the absence of Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas' AFL performance.

During the BEP's pre-game concert, punters couldn't help but notice that will.i.am, Taboo and apl.de.ap were missing their former royal colleague. Instead, newcomer Jessica Reynoso took over Fergie's wailing duties.

Of course, the BEP faithful know that Fergie didn't join the band until 2003, and left them officially in February of this year.

However, even will, Taboo and apl have to acknowledge that their biggest and best-loved hits all include Fergie Ferg (with apologies to Macy Gray and "Request Line").

To that end, will.i.am wants viewers to know he has heard your complaints, but all you've done is proven you're not a true fan, so that's a self-own on your part.

He also wants you to know he wasn't checking his phone during the performance. He was "sharing on socials".

Anyway, here's to less divisive times.
