Early Reviews of Robert Pattinson’s “The Batman” Are Calling It a Horror Movie

“Very graphic, very dark, very scary. I loved every second.”
After months of mystery surrounding the film, finally, Warner Bros. dropped the trailer for The Batman, and early reviews are likening it more to a horror film than a superhero blockbuster.
The three-minute trailer has successfully washed the bad taste of Ben Affleck and his rendition of the caped crusader out of our mouth and replaced it with a bitter and twisted Robert Pattinson that makes his brooding Edward Cullen look happy (sorry Twilight stans).
Boasting an all-star cast, a very dark premise and simply amazing cinematography, DC’s revival of The Batman is gonna be a superhero experience like no other. Here’s everything we know.
When is The Batman coming out in Australia?
Fans of Gotham City’s saviour won’t need to wait long before they can see him take on the criminal underbelly of the fictional metropolis with The Batman set to hit Australian cinemas on 3 March next year.
Obviously, this date may be subject to change ‘cos nothing is for certain anymore with COVID-19 still disrupting things, but fingers crossed the release date doesn’t get pushed back.
What is the plot about?
Say goodbye to the familiar Bruce Wayne losing his parents story. It’s been rehashed a dozen times by now that we all know the motivations behind becoming a dominant vigilante.
According to people in the know, The Batman will follow Bruce Wayne in his second year of fighting crime, specifically focussing on him hunting down The Riddler, a psychopathic serial killer wreaking havoc on the streets of Gotham.
Early screen tests have also revealed that the film is darker than any other Batman film we’ve had before, with some reporting that the movie is more like a full-blown horror film than a superhero blockbuster.
“The Batman movie is a horror movie. Very graphic, very dark, very scary,” one reviewer said on Twitter.
Sounds like this film is following in the footsteps of Joker.
Who stars in The Batman?
Obviously, Robert Pattinson is the next high-profile actor to take on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. Joining him is Paul Dano as The Riddler. If you’ve watched any of Dano’s work, you’ll know that he’s going to be spine chilling in this.
Zoe Kravitz plays Catwoman, Andy Serkis (Gollum) plays Wayne’s Butler Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Irish actor Colin Farrell as the Penguin (we bet you won’t recognise him though given the incredible makeup used).
I hope this succeeds ‘cos I’d love to see a sequel where Pattinson’s Batman comes face-to-face with Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
The Batman hits cinemas in Australia on 3 March.
