We’ve All Been Playing Uno Wrong

The official Uno Twitter account has chimed in to take away our most savage move.

All’s fair in love and war, but there’s one strategic battle tactic considered so brutal, it has torn literal families apart.

You know exactly of what I speak: the fabled Uno 'Draw Six' Reversal.

All may seem lost when an enemy combatant drops the seemingly fatal +4 card during a round of Uno. However, you know you have one further move in your arsenal, and though it may sever your personal relationships forever, it’s all that stands between you and certain failure: putting down a +2 and making the next player draw six cards.

In fact, here is live footage of the Uno 'Draw Six' Reversal being pulled.

It’s a deathblow. And it’s been taken away from us.

Totally unprompted, the official Uno Twitter account chimed in yesterday to let us know that this is considered an illegal play, setting a precedent that will likely clog up the courts for years to come, with past victories set to be contested (if not immediately overturned).

Though punters have argued—in vain—against the account, @realUnogame’s decree is a bit like J. Robert Oppenheimer helping create the atomic bomb and then trying to tell everyone it’s not to be used. You cannot unring this bell, Uno!

Nonetheless, the account continued to inform its followers that players "cannot stack cards" full stop. That means you can’t keep adding +2 cards until it ends on the unlucky player who has run out of said cards.

We understand and appreciate that Uno is trying to amend the rules of engagement, for safer, more civil gameplay. But they don’t know what it’s like out there.

War Uno is hell.
