A Sewing Machine, A Retainer, A Leaf Blower? All the Weird Things Aussies Have Left in Ubers

A Sewing Machine, A Retainer, A Leaf Blower? All the Weird Things Aussies Have Left in Ubers

Have you ever left something behind in an Uber?

Turns out a lot of people have, and they aren't exactly the kinda things you'd expect to be forgotten about either.

Uber has just released their 2022 Lost & Found Index revealing the quirky things Aussies and Kiwis and have left behind in a ride, as well as which cities are the most forgetful.

From a leaf blower to a brand new TV, costumes, wigs and even burger buns, the report says we're forgetting more than ever before.

And Uber has a few... interesting... theories as to why.

Firstly, because good times and travels are back in full swing and we're all out and about again.

Secondly, because Mercury is in retrograde? Apparently that means we've all been extra forgetful lately, according to astrologists.

As for the most forgetful city, Perth takes the crown with Brisbane getting a gold-star for being organised and not leaving things on the backseat.

Most 'Unique' Items Left Behind.

Among some of the strangest items left behind are a leaf blower (how?), a photo of a koala (why?) and a sewing machine (I've got a lot of questions about that one).

But that's not nearly all. There was also:

  • Spider Man costume
  • Electric scooter
  • A retainer
  • A kettle AND a toaster
  • Dyson vacuum head attachment

Standard Items Commonly Forgotten.

This list is far less surprising, with phones the number one thing we don't take with us when we get out of the car, closely followed by our keys. But there's also:

  • Camera
  • Wallet
  • Backpack/bag/luggage
  • Glasses

How to Get Something Back You Lost.

Uber knows this happens a lot so they've tried to make it as easy as possible to retrieve anything you might've forgotten.

First and foremost, you should call your driver—which is all well and good unless it's your phone you left in the car. But in that case, jump onto your account on a computer and follow the steps in this handy video (which can also apply to anything you leave behind in your ride).
