Where to Volunteer This Summer if You Want to Put Your Spare Time to Good Use

Give back and volunteer this summer 🙌

Looking to contribute your time to a meaningful cause this summer? You don’t have to volunteer every day but volunteering during your free time during school holidays/semester break is a good way of giving back to those in your community.  

Out of 1000 young people we surveyed, 43.2 per cent had volunteered in the past, 39.6 per cent had never volunteered and 17.2 per cent were volunteering at the time. 

So if you’re keen to offer up some of your time we gotchu. We’ve put together some places that take on volunteers during the summer holidays. 

Op Shops 

Many well-known organisations are always on the lookout for retail volunteers to assist in their op shops. By volunteering at places like Good Sammys, Australian Red Cross, Vinnies, Save the Children Australia, and The Salvation Army, you’ll help contribute to social welfare and community development for people in need. 

RSPCA 

If you like animals, the RSPCA offers volunteering rolls to support the welfare of animals in need. 

They have a variety of volunteer positions such as shelter volunteers, events volunteers and administration support. To find out about specific volunteer positions, head to the RSPCA page based in your state. 

MacKillop Family Services Volunteer 

MacKillop Family Services offers a range of volunteering opportunities to help children, young people, and families facing trauma or stress.  

Whether you're interested in mentoring, providing transport, helping young people accessing leisure activities, or offering social support, your volunteer work will help provide essential services to those who need it most.  

Foodbank 

Foodbank is a nationwide organisation that provides food for those who are in need.  

By volunteering at Foodbank, you can expect to help sort and pack food, prepare ready-to-eat meals, assist with catering and more. 

This is a really great way to make a direct impact on the lives of people who may be struggling.
