Five Things Students Can Look Forward to When COVID-19 Is Behind Us

Goodbye pandemic, hello world.
This article is presented in partnership with RMIT.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a massive impact on the world, and no one has felt that impact more than students.
Classes, lectures, uni clubs, sports and studying abroad all stopped in a matter of days, and only now are some of these parts of student life returning to normal.
Thankfully, almost 80 per cent of Australia have had their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at the time of writing. The end of the pandemic is in sight—and no one is more excited about this than uni students.
To get you pumped, here are five things all uni students are looking forward to when COVID is behind us.

Overseas travel.
No surprises here. Students are at the ready to book a flight over to Europe, New Zealand, Vietnam—heck, even a good ol’ holiday to Bali.
If it involves getting on a plane and a stamp in your passport, students will be there in a heartbeat.
Plus, travel is considered one of the best forms of education. When put like that, it’s no wonder students want to go explore the planet again.

Going on exchange.
The only thing that is better than heading overseas, is combining it with some study abroad.
With RMIT, there is a range of different countries around the world you can choose to study on an exchange like Germany, Spain, China, France, Japan, Canada, Mexico and so many more.
It’s a great opportunity to meet new friends, experience a different culture and create international networks.

Joining a uni club.
Pretty much all uni clubs stopped when COVID started, and though people tried to keep them going via Zoom, it just wasn’t the same.
Clubs starting back is great news for students ‘cos it’s an opportunity to indulge in something you love or discover a new hobby while making new friends.
At RMIT, there are heaps of clubs to choose from and get involved like the Music Collective, KPOP club, outdoors and sports clubs, Chess club, Vegan club, spiritual and religious clubs and heaps more.

Seeing old friends and family.
For some students, it’s been almost two years since they’ve seen their family, so heading interstate or overseas to reunite with them is high on their to-do list.
And let’s be real, as fun as it is living life on campus and eating two-minute noodles, nothing can compare with a home-cooked meal from the family or a catch up with some close friends back home.

Multicultural diversity in classes.
This might be something you didn’t realise you were missing, but open borders mean that unis like RMIT can welcome back international students on campus.
Your education is richer when you’re exposed to different cultural perspectives and opinions, so students from overseas coming back is a massive win for yours and their education.

There you have it; five things uni students are looking forward to when COVID is finally behind us.
