Did you know the iconic jack-o’-lantern has its origins in an Irish folktale, all about a man named Jack who made the unwise decision to scam the Devil, and was cursed in the afterlife to carry a turnip-lantern lit by coal as he wandered the Earth throughout his eternal damnation?

Well, it does! (Somewhere along the way, the turnip got turned into a pumpkin.)

But that doesn’t mean you have to carve Jack’s face into your own vegetable lantern of choice.

In fact, Redditor fordr015 has found an even more chilling visage for their own Halloween display.
