This Is Fine: WA Wanna Break Up With the Rest of Australia

Their state may make up one-third of the nation's land mass, but some in Western Australia no longer want to call Australia home.

The Western Australian Liberals have passed a policy motion at a state conference to create a committee that will "examine the option of WA becoming an independent state within the Commonwealth."

Essentially, they've decided to look into the viability of splitting up with the East Coast in the spiciest East-West Coast feud since Biggie and Tupac (R.I.P) became enemies. And just look how that ended.

The secession movement is nothing new. Some vocal supporters of the movement have suggested WA is frustrated with the levels of GST they're providing the Eastern states, particularly Canberra, and don't see returned to the state in infrastructure and other funding.

However, the Liberal Party is in opposition for at least another two years and the leader of the WA Liberals, Mike Nahan, is actually against the motion.

"But ... we're like a family, someone told me many people who are large families will wish they had single-child family, but that's not possible," Nahan told the ABC.

Still, people are feeling a little bit salty about it.

Others had creative ideas about their new proposed nation.

Even former Senator, Scott Ludlam, chimed in.

But the real problem with this whole movement isn't the potentially catastrophic political and economic aftershock, it's definitely the unimaginative hashtag. Tragic, really.
