Things That Feel Illegal But Are Actually Fine Over the Holidays

Your sign to sleep in ‘til 11am
Okay prove us wrong but there is literally nothing better than being on holidays.
No tests, no assignments, not a pen in sight.
While it’s good to maintain some routine during the holidays (maybe get a casual job, do some volunteer work, spend time with your friends) it’s also absolutely fine to spend a few days decompressing after a huge year.
Here are the things you can let yourself off the hook for these holidays.
Sleeping until 11am.

It’s the one time a year you don’t have to set an alarm. So don’t.
As students we’re usually waking up to the sound of an alarm everyday. A few days with no alarm to wake us up sounds like bliss.
Sleep in, get a full 12 hours and honestly you will have never felt better in your life.
Wearing pyjamas all day.
Bonus points if they’re festive themed.
If you’re at home, no one is going to see you anyways. So why not stay in your pyjamas all day?
And even if you do need to inevitably go to the shops to get groceries, everyone is in holiday-mode so you may as well just go out in your pyjamas anyways.
No judgement from us.
Eating leftovers for every meal.

The festive period = food all day.
But in an attempt not to overeat and waste food, eating leftovers is a rite of passage this time of year.
It’s better to save it for leftovers rather than waste it.
Plus, if your family’s Christmas lunch might go to waste this is also a good chance to potentially donate it to shelters around your area.
Having guilt-free downtime.
It might be a little unconventional to say ‘no’ to plans the one time of year everyone is actually free. But this is a busy time, and everyone wants to catch up.
Sometimes we all need a little down time because our social battery is at 10 per cent.
Not knowing what day it is.

Ah, our favourite time of year.
The period where you don’t know if it’s the weekend or a weekday because every day feels like a holiday. It’s truly the best.
It’s the one time of year where every day feels synonymous and if you don’t know what day it is – it’s so fine.
Enjoy yourself and bask in not knowing.
Because come mid-January, you’ll be right back to reality.
