The "Bachelor in Paradise" Dramas Have Reached Threat Level Midnight

Save your roses.

The third season of Bachelor in Paradise, which is now airing on 10 having been delayed since April as a result of COVID-19, was always going to be extremely, extremely messy. That is, basically, the reason for its existence.

But not like this!

Since the show’s debut on 15 July, a bunch of participants have proceeded to spill the tea on the producers and their fellow contestants in increasingly dramatic fashion.

Let’s begin with Jamie Doran, who first came to prominence as a contestant on The Bachelorette last year. He has announced he’ll begin legal proceedings against Network 10 and Warner Bros. Australia, presumably for his depiction on the series.

It follows the public response to his appearances on the show (specifically a sequence in which he sobbed uncontrollably), which many on social media have called out for being irresponsibly broadcast.

When he exited the show on Wednesday night, Doran announced his intense feeling of admiration for participant Helena Sauzier, saying, "I just wanna pursue Helena." She shared her reaction to Instagram stories.

Cassandra Mamone has also complained about how she's been edited, particularly what sounded like patched-together voiceover, saying on Instagram, "I OWN what ever [sic] comes out of my mouth directly, but I will NOT own pieces of different interviews at different times pieced together to steer a narrative."

But recent evictee Niranga Amarasinghe, who was rejected by Cassandra, subtly shaded her on his own Instagram by suggesting, actually, "she looked good in the edits".

As one of only two participants of colour on the show, Amarasinghe also alleged racist comments were made off camera (without explicitly attributing them to anyone).

"When one particular comes out saying that they got a bad edit," he wrote, "It infuriated me."

"There were so many more nasty comments to me and other people. One particular moment telling several people they wouldn't take me back to the parents because of where I was from.. Can't pronounce my name and doesn't even know where I'm from."

It's at this point we remind you that there is still another week of Bachelor in Paradise to go.
