Sukhjit Khalsa on Being a "Fully Sikh" Spoken Word Poet: You Have to Stan

Sukhjit Khalsa on Being a "Fully Sikh" Spoken Word Poet: You Have to Stan

She appeared on Australia's Got Talent in 2016.

Last week, we officially launched our podcast called You Have To Stan. In two weekly episodes on a Wednesday and Friday, Student Edge writer Caitlin chats with special guests about anything and everything they're obsessed with in pop culture.

She also interviews inspiring artists and creative minds who have interesting experiences, career journeys or stories worth sharing.

This week, Caitlin was joined on the podcast by Sukhjit Khalsa, an accomplished first-generation Australian spoken word poet.

In 2016, Sukhjit made her mark across the world when she performed an incredibly empowering piece about Sikh identity on Australia's Got Talent.

Since then, she's gone on to create her own highly acclaimed theatre show "Fully Sikh", which encapsulates her family life and complex upbringing.

You can listen to Caitlin and Sukhjit talk about spoken word poetry, how the arts can be used as a tool for advocacy, and the challenges Sukhjit has faced throughout her career.

Check it out!

You can listen to You Have To Stan on Acast, Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
