Oh, Canada.
An Ontario-based web design company has drawn the ire of the internet for a sexist job ad.
In their LinkedIn post, shared by
Vox, Vestra Inet writes that they’re seeking a ‘Content Writer/SEO specialist’.

All seems above board: they want applicants to have “superior organisational abilities” and be able to “work independently and in coordination with a team.”
“Knowledge of Russian is a plus,” for some reason.
The ad comes to a screeching halt with this, “Oh, one other thing,” addendum: “Please note that the Position requires filling in the responsibilities of a receptionist, so female candidates are preferred.”

The job ad was taken down after a number of LinkedIn users expressed their disgust with its wording.
The casual sexism of the post may not
seem all that offensive, but consider
The Ontario Human Rights Code: “The Code protects men and women from harassment and discrimination, including assumptions about their abilities that result from stereotypes about how men and women ‘should’ behave, dress or interact.”
In one simple sentence, Vestra Inet revealed that they prefer women in receptionist positions (discriminating against both sexes) while also indicating that a woman could
only take a role in the male-dominated tech field by also acting as receptionist.
So, once again:
