"I'm Sorry": Selena Gomez Breaks Down During Christina Grimmie Tribute

Selena Gomez has tearfully offered tribute to the late singer Christina Grimmie, who was shot and killed in Orlando, Florida on Friday evening.

During her Saturday night concert in Miami, Gomez dedicated the song “Transfiguration” to Grimmie, who opened for Gomez on her 2013 “Stars Dance” tour.

“When she was 14, we met her and my parents and I signed her,” she said during her dedication.

"I don’t really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her.”

Later in the evening, midway through a performance of the song “Nobody”, a crying Gomez stopped singing and visibly mouthed “I’m sorry” to the audience, Mashable reports.

Grimmie, 22, was a YouTube star who had finished third in the sixth season of The Voice in 2014.

She was murdered at an after-concert meet-and-greet by 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl. Police confirmed that Loibl did not personally know Grimmie, and that he seemingly traveled to the event from another Florida city specifically to attack the singer. After being tackled by Grimmie’s brother, Marcus, the suspect killed himself.
