Knees Weak? Arms Heavy? Science Says Eminem Improves Your Workout By 10%

Curating a workout playlist with Joanna Newsom, Sufjan Stevens and Mac DeMarco?

Scientists say you should basically hurl your iPod into the sea unless you’re cranking Marshall Mathers.

According to a study from the UK’s Hartpury University Centre, the music of Eminem can “boost athletic performance” by up to 10 per cent.

They came to the findings by measuring the physiological effect of different tunes and genres on swimmer Ben Hooper.

As you might have predicted before science made it fact, Em’s 8 Mile anthem “Lose Yourself” and his 2002 hit “Without Me” gave Hooper the biggest boost, significantly increasing his power and endurance.

(Presumably after a plate of mum's spaghetti.)

The Script and Swedish House Mafia also improved his performance.

Meanwhile, the music of Bob Marley and other reggae acts impeded Hooper somewhat. Draw whatever conclusions you must from that finding.

During the three month study, Hooper swam nearly 25,000 lenghts of an indoor swimming pool. For science!
