It's Over: Samsung Tells Users To Power Down Galaxy Note7 Devices For Their Own Safety

Good night, sweet, exploding prince.

Samsung is encouraging users to power down their Galaxy Note7s once and for all, conceding that the device is too dangerous for users.

Here’s exclusive footage of a Note7 being put to rest.

Samsung has also ceased production of the device, ABC News reports.

The decision follows reports of replacement devices catching fire. These, of course, were meant to replace the original devices – which also kept catching fire.

About 2.5 million Note7s had already been recalled due to faulty, explode-y batteries. However, given that the replacements are similarly igniting, the actual root of the problem is now being questioned.

In a statement, Samsung said consumers’ safety was their top priority. They encouraged users to seek a refund or exchange it for a different smartphone. Previously, they had suggested Samsung-ites wait for replacements, but it now looks as if the South Korean electronics company is aware the ‘Note7’ brand is unsalvageable.

So, you’ll have to wait a while longer before you can dunk your phone in a carafe of water without fear of doing damage, sadly.
