PRIME Drinks Are Being Banned in Some Schools

Students are racing to shops to buy (and even sell) the Logan Paul-KSI collab.
It feels like only yesterday when YouTube sensations Logan Paul and KSI came to Australia to promote their PRIME drink range.
Their arrival in Sydney was met with thousands of fans outside the Today Show studios, and you may remember the planned meet-and-greets that were cancelled in both Sydney and Perth due to safety concerns.
Now PRIME (and its creators) are making headlines again with several schools around the country banning the drink.
According to the ABC, several schools in Western Australia and Queensland have contacted parents about the ban on PRIME due to its dangerous levels of caffeine for children.
The principal of Miami State School on the Gold Coast said that the ban came in place after seeing students with the drink on school grounds, stating that “it clearly states on the packaging that these drinks are ‘not suitable for children under 15 years of age’”.
There are two types of PRIME – PRIME ‘Energy’ and PRIME ‘Hydration’.
PRIME Energy is the major concern, as it contains 200mg of caffeine – in Australia, that’s double the legal limit of caffeine for a drink of its size.
There’s no surprise that this isn’t being stocked on our supermarket shelves, but of course, people have been sourcing them out online.
However, the rage for its alternative drink is just as high.
PRIME Hydration is a non-caffeinated drink, and has recently hit shelves in Woolworths with an intense reception from fans.
On Sunday morning, one of the Woolies stores in Perth opened with many young boys rushing under the entry doors to try and snap up the Hydration range for themselves.
Each bottle of PRIME Hydration is listed as $4.50 on the Woolies website and can only be purchased in store only.
They’ve even had to cap the number of purchases to five per transaction, however people have been greedy and getting away with a lot more.
We’re absolutely feeling for those retail workers being swarmed with questions from both PRIME fans and their parents, asking when they’d be getting more in stock.
@woolworths you guys need a nationwide cap on how many bottles of PRIME HYDRATION each customer can take home. At my local store there was barely any left and even then only two flavours available. I saw someone walk out with 6 slabs, (54 bottles) of the drink!! pic.twitter.com/NlUdWTmpaW

Some fans who got their hands on PRIME aren’t even drinking it, and are instead cashing in on the hype and reselling the drink.
One parent told Perth Now that his sons don’t even know who Logan Paul is, but they still wanted the drink.
Whether you’re a fan of Logan Paul and KSI or not, its worth being aware that slamming any energy drinks down isn’t good for you – have a read here to find out more!
