Perth Pals: Troye Sivan Is Starstruck by Katherine Langford at Teen Choice Awards

You can take the the Troye out of Perth, but you can’t take Perth out of the Troye.

Despite having played Saturday Night Live earlier this year on an episode hosted by Jessica Chastain, and collaborating on a single and music video with Ariana Grande, and just generally blowing up in a manner that has him primed for superstardom, Troye Sivan still apparently gets starstruck himself.

It just so happens that he gets starstruck by people who grew up around the corner from himself.

Earlier today, the "My My My!" singer presented the award for Choice Comedy Movie at the Teen Choice Awards to Love, Simon. The whole film’s cast took to the stage to accept the commemorative surfboard, including Katherine Langford, of 13 Reasons Why.

Sivan expressed his excitement on Twitter.

Did y’all watch teen choice!!! I just presented an award to Love Simon and got to stare at Katherine Langford

But here’s the funny part: At a ceremony also attending by Chris Pratt, Anna Kendrick, and, umm, a flossing panda…

… Sivan was most excited to stare at Langford, who, like Sivan, hails from Perth, Western Australia.

In fact, Sivan’s high school—Carmel School—is about an 8km drive from Langford’s former Perth Modern School.

Seeing how Troye is just one year older than Langford, you have to wonder: Did they ever run into one another as aspiring actors in W.A.? And is it too late for him to squeeze a song about his latest interaction with Langford onto his new album, Bloom, due out 31 August?
