Pack Up and Move to Melbs Because It’s One of the Most Liveable Cities in the World

All other Aussie cities have dropped down the list 😬
Melbournians ferociously love their city, and now it’s been parachuted to the top of a prestigious list that’ll give them even more bragging rights.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), which sounds awfully like some kind of spy agency, assessed more than 170 cities around the world to create the definitive Global Liveability Index 2022.
The criteria considered include stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
Here’s a look at the Top 10.
- Vienna
- Copenhagen
- Zurich
- Calgary
- Vancouver
- Geneva
- Frankfurt
- Toronto
- Amsterdam
- Osaka and Melbourne
While this is a win for Melbs, other Aussie cities have slid right off the radar. Oh naur!

Adelaide was ranked second in last year’s index and has fallen to 30th place. Meanwhile Perth fell 26 spots to 32nd, and Brisbane down 17 spots to 27th. Yikes.
The report stated that COVID-19 restrictions were partly responsible for the lower rankings.

"In Australia, some states were slower to lift restrictions than others. As a result, Perth and Adelaide have lost ground since last year," the report said.
Victorian Premier Dan Andrews has weighed in on the report, saying "the way we're viewed around the world is important, of course, but all of us know here that Melbourne is back, that Victoria is back," he said.
